At the International Motor Show in Frankfurt, Germany to 64, in mid-September, General Motor introduced the new Opel Astra GTC. The newest member of Opel’s ever-growing Astra family will go on sale across Europe including the United Kingdom where it will be available as a Vauxhall later this year.

Lotus still has a lot of forward planning for the future map, despite a series of concepts presented at the Paris Motor Show. Five concept vehicles were revealed in 2010:the Elan, Elise, Elite, Esprit and Eterne. We’ve got an update on two of them. The Lotus Esprit should arrive by 2013. The Elan, however, has a murkier future. Forget 2013; it’s been speculated that we might not see it until 2016. Blame the Lotus Evora.

The new Volkswagen Tiguan will be make world debut at the Geneva International Motor Show on March 1st. The reason: Volkswagen accelerated the start of advance sales several weeks, because sustained high demand for the previous model has resulted in it being sold out.

The Chevrolet’s Aveo is called Sonic for North American-spec models. The company noted that the model for markets outside the U.S., Canada and Mexico, which was first seen at the 2010 Paris Motor Show, will retain the Aveo name.

The new Trezia is the latest in a long line of Toyota models turned into Subaru as part of the ongoing partnership between the two Japanese automakers. The Trezia essentially a rebadged version of the Toyota Verso-S, which was introduced in Europe at this year’s Paris Motor Show.
